About

The Saarioinen Eesti OÜ ready meals factory was established in 2009. in 2006 with the aim of developing and producing a range of ready-made meals called Mamma in Estonia.

The factory’s production is planned to be up to nine million kilograms per year, and the range will be tailored to the needs and preferences of buyers.

More than EUR 12.8 million has been invested in the plant from the Group’s own resources. State-of-the-art technical equipment ensures high quality products and stricter hygiene requirements, while fast refrigeration ensures a longer shelf life.

The factory will cover an area of 6,000 square metres and employ around 180 people.

The entire territory of the Saarioinen Eesti OÜ factory is smoke-free.

Mamma vision is to be the most preferred and loved convenience food provider in the Baltics.

Mamma mission is to make people’s lives more comfortable by providing them with food made with heart from pure ingredients.

Mamma Timeline

1941 a

Saarionen will go to the current owners.

1953 a

A cannery is established in Sahalahti, Finland, and the first canned beetroot is produced.

1957 a

A ready-to-eat factory is opened in Sahalaht. The first products – liver mould, meatballs, cabbage rolls and semolina foam – are still in production.

1964 a

The golden cock will be introduced as a trademark.

1972 a

A canning factory is completed in Huittis.

1995 a

Saarioinen Eesti OÜ is established.

2002 a

Saarioinen Eesti OÜ acquires a majority stake in AS Melecos.

2009 a

A new ready-to-eat food factory is opened in Rapla.

Increased hygiene requirements and smoke-free territory.

2010 a

Mamma wins the silver medal in the Estonian Best Food competition “Best Prepared Food in Estonia 2010” with the Mamma range of stuffed pancakes.

2013 a

The Mamma Caesar salad is launched and quickly becomes one of the most popular products in our range. The product is still on the market today.

2016 a

We are launching a new Mamma sub-brand “Mamma Let’s Go”, targeting young people. We are updating our packaging and communication language, and all our ready-to-eat products have been rebranded.

2016 a

Mamma Morning Porridge wins the silver medal in the Estonian Best Food competition as “Estonia’s Best Prepared Food 2016”.

2019 a

Raplamaa Health Friendly Employer 2019.

The Association of Local Authorities of Raplamaa has noticed our company’s activities and recognised Saarioinen Eesti OÜ as a health-friendly and safe workplace in Raplamaa 2019.

2019 a

Mamma wins three titles in the Estonian Best Food competition with one product. The pumpkin and buttermilk pancakes will be awarded with the silver medal titles “Best Prepared Food in Estonia 2019”, “Best Dessert in Estonia 2019” and for the first time in the company’s history, the gold medal “Best Estonian Food 2019”.

Mamma oat and apple pancakes win the silver medal in the Estonian Best Food competition for “Estonia’s Best Prepared Food 2020”.

2024 a.

Mamma oat and orange pancakes win the title “Best Prepared Food in Estonia 2024” in the Estonian Best Food competition.
